Now that you know how to create an excellent meeting plan, the next step is to learn what to do (and what not to do) during the meeting itself. Even a well-planned meeting will end in failure if you don’t stick to the agenda, designate a facilitator, accomplish the meeting goal and practice good meeting etiquette.
To carry out a good meeting, stick to the script. Some minor tweaking here and there is fine, but don’t veer too far off course. If you are talking, appoint a meeting facilitator. Good facilitators take care of the details of meeting management so that you don’t have to think about them. Thirdly, make a point out of accomplishing the goal of the meeting. Revisit the goal at the end of the meeting to make sure that it has been achieved. Finally, don’t forget to practice good meeting etiquette. If you break the rules, so will the rest of the meeting attendees. For more information check out the slide deck below.
